James Tomkins, affectionately known as "JT" by many - our newly elected Highway Superintendent has six years work experience at the GI Highway Department. During the last three years, he had served as Deputy Superintendent.
Prior to working for the Town of Grand Island, JT was employed for 18 years at Sevenson Construction Corporation, where he worked all over the eastern U.S. repairing roads, bridges, and parking decks for 6 years, and then spent 12 years running their Information Systems Department.
He combines these earlier experiences with invaluable on-the-job mentoring from retired Highway Superintendent, Ray Dlugokinski - an unbeatable combination which will benefit the people of this Town as they continue to enjoy the superior service the Highway Department traditionally has provided.
